Fuvahmulah Digital Tourism & Local Business Platform

A centralized digital platform to promote local businesses, tourism services, and improve visitor experience — with development already underway and open for community input.

Fuvahmulah has strong potential for tourism and local business growth, but there is currently no centralized system that connects visitors with local services, experiences, and businesses. I propose creating a digital platform (mobile app or integrated system) that allows visitors and residents to easily discover restaurants, guesthouses, activities, transport options, and local services in one place. This platform can also support features such as online ordering, bookings, navigation, and business listings. This would benefit: • Tourists, by improving their overall experience and accessibility to services • Local businesses, by increasing visibility and sales opportunities • The community, by supporting sustainable economic growth While this platform can begin with a strong focus on Fuvahmulah, it also has the potential to scale to other islands in the future. Starting locally allows for testing, improvement, and refinement, while creating a model that could later benefit other islands across the Maldives. Development of this idea is already underway, and I believe this is a great opportunity to align it with the city’s long-term vision.
